If you have longed to play with a band and believe you don’t have the musical wherewithal, here’s an answer to that wish: the Lake Effect Clarinet Quartet (LECQ). No, you don’t have to play a challenging instrument like the clarinet, but you can join with a kazoo!
The LECQ gave a delightful family concert at Sulzer Library on Saturday, December 17th, performing several selections from J.S. Bach’s “The Christmas Oratorio” and then descending to the great classic, “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” Hearing the bass clarinet’s “voice” for Mr. Grinch was delightful.
To conclude the program, the audience tuned their kazoos, and we did a rousing performance of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” from the “Messiah.” You’ve got your 2017 calendar by now, I hope. Turn to next December and make a note at the top to include this program in your holiday festivities.
