You may have heard about Chicago Forward this week — a political action committee (PAC) formed by Rahm Emanuel’s supporters with the mission of backing candidates and issues that “move our city forward.” The Chicago Forward website states that the PAC is focused on education issues, safety and fostering business opportunities for expanding jobs.
We have a very similar name. But that’s where the similarity stops.
We are Forward Chicago.
Our 2-year-old organization could not be more different than Chicago Forward. We’re a grassroots, all volunteer, non-profit organization that helps keep people active and engaged as we age in our wonderful community.

More than just a “seniors group,” we’re working to build a community that includes every generation.
What does that mean? It could mean a community dinner where you look across the table and see people of all ages. It could mean a neighborhood sewing project creating grocery bags for a local food pantry. It means clubs for all interests — walking club, bridge club, book club and more. Leadership positions, for every age. Ideas dreamed up by anyone in the group to build a stronger community for all. Because that’s what grassroots organizations do.
You are invited to join us. We are here to welcome and involve both individuals of all ages. And we work with local businesses that serve and appreciate the richness that people of all ages bring to our community. As a 501 (c)(3) organization, all donations are tax-deductible.
You’ll undoubtedly be hearing lots about Chicago Forward. But as you do, we hope you’ll also remember Forward Chicago. And maybe even join us.
Oh, if any of those checks for Chicago Forward are mistakenly made out to us? And find their way to our office at 4734 N. Virginia Ave., Chicago Il 60625?
If that happens? We promise to send them over to that other organization with a name just like ours.
We promise.
Really.
