Congratulations to Edgewater Historical Society! Its exhibit on how the automobile transformed the Edgewater community has been nominated for an award from the American Association for State and Local History.
EHS has extended the exhibit until May 3. Don’t miss this extra opportunity to view the excellent “Motoring Through Edgewater.” From the exhibit:
In the early 20th century, Broadway in Edgewater was a “North Side Motor Row.” Glamourous auto shows complete with fashion models took place right in the neighborhood and it was home to automotive pioneers and racers. The exhibit reveals the history hidden before our eyes and illuminates the role that the automobile played in transforming life in the 20th century.
The museum is open 1-4 p.m. most Saturdays and Sundays, and for special events. Admission is always free, but donations are accepted. Check the Edgewater Historical Society website for information about parking and public transportation options.
